Welcome to Academic Standards and Enhancement

Academic Standards and Enhancement lead the development, management of and engagement with the university’s quality assurance and enhancement policies, processes and activities including:

• management of the institutional Quality Framework
• academic regulations and their consistent application across the university
• annual review and monitoring
• programme approval and reapproval 
• driving evidence-based enhancement (including through NSS and internal student surveys) 
• leadership of strategic enhancement focused initiatives (including QAA Scotland Enhancement Themes and implementation of the university’s Learning and Teaching Enhancement Strategy) 
• managing and supporting institutional engagement in external quality assurance and reporting activities (e.g. ELIR, QESR, SQA reporting)
• scheduling/conducting exam boards
• liaison with external examiners
