Professor Andrew Jennings Presenting at the Virtual Island Summit 2026
Professor Andrew Jennings UHI Institute for Northern Studies is presenting at the 'Virtual Island Summit' on 17th September 16.00 BST.
The Virtual Island Summit is a free, global online conference that connects islanders worldwide to share knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions for the unique challenges their communities face.
The session discusses 'Governance and autonomy in Northern and Arctic non-sovereign island societies.' Drawing on the Faroe Islands, Shetland, the Isle of Man, Greenland and Prince Edward Island, this research forum examines how different relationships with central states shape island decision-making. It considers how governance and autonomy intersect with the economic, social and infrastructure choices required for resilient, sustainable and inclusive futures.
