Calum Davidson Memorial Prize
The Calum Davidson Marine Energy Prize is an annual prize of £500 awarded to assist a UHI student to further develop their interest in marine energy.

31 October 2026The Calum Davidson Marine Energy Prize has been established in memory of Calum Davidson, his dedication to the early development of the marine energy sector and his belief in the potential for the Highlands and Islands to be recognised as a world-class region for marine activity.
Eligibility
- Applications are invited from students across the whole UHI partnership at all levels of study.
- The prize is not limited to any specific classes, modules, or degree groups.
- UK and non-UK resident students are eligible to apply.
- The award can be used to fund activities or outputs which would otherwise not be achievable in the normal course of study due to financial or time constraints. For example, additional resources for research dissertations; work experience with industrial partners in the marine sector; or study trips to further knowledge of the marine sector. The award cannot be used to assist with tuition fees.
How to apply
The winning student will be able to demonstrate an outstanding contribution to their studies or research and will also show a passion for ongoing commitment to the marine energy industry.
Student applications will be assessed by representatives from UHI and founding donors
