Biography
Morag is a midwife and Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (school nurse).
After completing a BSc Midwifery in 2008 at the University of Stirling, her first job was in the maternity unit of a London teaching hospital. Morag quickly moved into a caseloading midwifery team, supporting many women to give birth at home. Morag then worked as a community midwife in West Yorkshire, before returning to London to work on Labour Ward and as Clinical Risk Midwife in another maternity unit. Outside of the NHS, Morag was a volunteer independent midwife with the charity, Medical Justice, visiting pregnant women in immigration detention to give an independent medicolegal opinion on their care.
Morag worked in a Family Nurse Partnership team in South London for almost 5 years before returning to university to complete SCPHN (school nurse) training. Her most recent job before joining the department involved working with vulnerable young people in East London as a Pupil Referral Unit school nurse. For the last two years, Morag also worked for Public Health England/OHID as a Nursing and Midwifery Physical Activity Clinical Champion, empowering clinicians to promote physical activity effectively to patients/clients.
